Reaching the top of the performance list here, we see prices finally break into four digits. With the Sapphire 7900 XTX Nitro+ card costing around £1050, it’s only going to appeal to enthusiasts or those with deeper pockets. But like the others, you get more for your money, with a step up to 24GB of VRAM, another significant step up in core count with 6144 Stream Processors, and the most premium cooling solution of the bunch too, to ensure it can game longer and harder without slowing down. Sapphire has also put a significant backplate, improved 20-phase power delivery and even a more robust PCB on this over the reference model, making it one of the best-equipped AMD cards to date. As such, an 850W+ PSU is required too.
This is the fastest of the bunch, with performance that’s able to rival that of the RTX 4090 in most games, where it’s often a few frames ahead or just a few behind and smokes the RTX 4080 despite having a similar price tag. With this card being as powerful as it is, Ray Tracing is definitely on the menu here too if you’re happy at 1440p or 4K60. Without ray tracing 4K60 is no problem in any title, and short of the most demanding titles such as Cyberpunk, 4K at 120Hz is an option here, with many modern TVs supporting this feature, and increasing numbers of 4K monitors, it’s a win-win.
