Sapphire Nitro+ RX 6700 XT Graphics Card Review

How Much Does It Cost?

While there are rumours floating around about various MSRP’s for the 6700 XT cards, does that even mean that retailers will sell them at this price? We know some local retailers like to inflate their pricing a bit which basically means, we won’t really know the price until the cards are available for sale, even if we had an MSRP. Generally speaking, we would like to see the pricing of the Nitro+ model land somewhere in between the Gigabyte Gaming OC and ASUS ROG STRIX variants but closer to the Gigabyte side of things.

Overview

The Sapphire Nitro+ RX 6700 XT offers good performance and thermals alike in an aesthetically pleasing package. One of the things that will set this card apart from most of the others in the inclusion of the BIOS switch. The BIOS switch will let you switch between BIOS on the fly should you need to. All you have to do is make sure the system is off, flip the switch and start it back up and you are good to go, there are various uses where this will come in handy. The Nitro+ cards are always very well thought out and we can see Sapphire has done a good job taking most users needs into concern and offering a well-rounded solution as such.

Should I Buy One?

I’m getting tired of writing this but unfortunately, this is going to come down to availability and pricing, again. Should you actually be able to find one at a decent price, then yes, I can recommend this variant of the 6700 XT graphics cards. However do remember it offers similar gaming performance to all the other 6700 XT gaming cards we have tested, so just bear that in mind when making your decision.

SAM

We have tested SAM on our reference RX 6700 XT as the performance on all 6700 XT’s was quite similar. In most tests, we saw an 8-15% increase in FPS although in some games we saw 0 difference and this should be similar for all 6700 XT cards. In order to use SAM, you will need a 6xxx series GPU, 5xxx Series CPU and a B550/X570 with all the current updates for your system. We may revisit this in comparison to NVIDIA’s Resizable BAR in the future when it is more readily available.

While it is hard to recommend one brand over the other, we feel that AMD’s RX 6700 XT is a great 1440P gaming card and as such, have awarded it the Gamers Choice Award.
