Final Thoughts
AMD had yet another sucessful product even if the launch was quite non-existent. Whilst a lot of people (myself included) will moan about the heat, power and noise this card generates, you have to give AMD their dues in developing such a card with fantastic specs.
The benchmark results showed a clear scale of how this card performs in a variety of tests using different aspects of graphics rendering but these tests also showcased the cards pitful; the cooling. The card does generate a lot of power, which is in turn generating heat which makes the cooler work harder than before. Heaven was a prime example of this as the fan made such a loud noise i couldn’t wait for the benchmark to finish. This does open a few doorways for the likes of Sapphire and the other partners in developing custom cooler designs for this mammoth of a card, and we personally feel that’s when the 6990 series will have a proper launch.
Price wise you will see this card very expensive indeed, and in our eyes, your money would be better spent on two x 6950’s that unlock to 6970 performance in CrossFire, but if you’ve got the money, why not eh?
