SAPPHIRE Unveils EDGE+ VPR-7P132 Mini-ITX Board for AI Edge Computing at CES 2026
SAPPHIRE has introduced the EDGE+ VPR-7P132, a new Mini-ITX AMD Embedded+ motherboard designed to power the next generation of AI-driven edge systems. By integrating AMD Ryzen AI Embedded processors and AMD Versal AI Edge Series Gen 2 adaptive SoCs on a single board, this platform brings together application processing and real-time AI acceleration in one compact solution.
High-Performance AI at the Edge
The EDGE+ VPR-7P132 is built for modern edge workloads that demand low latency and predictable performance. Its multi-processor compute architecture distributes workloads across CPUs, GPUs, AI engines, and programmable logic, making it ideal for applications such as robotics, machine vision, and industrial automation.
Powered by the new AMD Ryzen AI Embedded P132 Series APU, featuring Zen 5 CPU cores, AMD RDNA 3.5 graphics, and an AMD XDNA 2 NPU capable of over 50 TOPS of AI performance, the board handles operating systems, visualization, and network management with ease.
Despite its Mini-ITX form factor (170 × 170 mm), the EDGE+ VPR-7P132 offers an impressive range of connectivity, including dual 10Gb Ethernet, USB4, PCIe Gen 4 expansion, and support for five display outputs. An optional I/O daughter board adds support for up to 12 cameras, CAN-FD ports, and mini DisplayPort outputs, enabling advanced sensor and vision applications.
SAPPHIRE says the new platform provides a reliable foundation for developers to build intelligent, responsive, and scalable AI systems for industrial, automotive, and commercial use.
In other news, soaring DDR5 RAM prices, driven by massive AI demand, are causing significant drops (40-50%) in motherboard sales.
