With many games and an iconic setting, Star Wars is famous for their space battles. Almost as iconic as the swooshing sound of the lightsabers is the classic sound of the Millenium Falcon flying into the battle. If you want to recreate these battles, there are lots of ways to enjoy them. Video games and board games alike bring models of the famous Falcon and the infamous X-Wing to your room but what if you wanted to go a little more 3D? While we’ve already reported on a Millenium Falcon drone, these take the concept of Star Wars drones to a whole new level!
The new quadcopters take on the shape of iconic vehicles from the Star Wars universe, including the Advanced Tie Fighter flown by Darth Vader himself and the infamous speeder bike (shown below). While the drones may not be quiet you don’t care when they can travel at speeds of up to 25 miles per hour, a staggering speed for drones.
With the drone’s rotors positioned upside down the craft essentially pushing the craft off the floor. The reason for this? No holes in the craft created an amazing looking miniature that flies just as well as any other drone. While Propel, the company behind the new drones, showed off their craft to the public their professional pilots were able to dodge through a recreated forest moon of Endor’s many trees without any difficulty. With no stabilization aids to start with Propel have made it clear that the final model would include these in order to help learner pilots, but with reports saying they could be between $300 – 400 per quadcopter, I don’t see many people going out and buying every single copter even if they do fire lasers.
