Scythe Fuma 2 CPU Air Cooler Review

A Closer Look

Out of the box, the Scythe Fuma 2 looks very impressive with its gray, black and silver coloring contrasting and complimenting each other well. This cooler might not have RGB lighting, but with an aesthetic this strong, it doesn’t need it!

As a high-profile twin-fan cooler, it’s clearly quite a unit. The slimmer second fan, however, and the variety of directions in which you can install this, however, mean that you should have very little trouble in terms of location or RAM compatibility.

Contact Plate

With 6 pipes leading away from the contact plate, the Scythe Fuma 2 clearly has the potential for some excellent heat dissipation. This is, incidentally, the exact same number of pipes leading from the Noctua NH-D15 and again lends to the overall ethos of what this product is looking to replicate.

Being off-set, the cooler is slightly unbalanced in an upright position. This is, however, corrected with the installation of the fans. The contact plate itself is nice, smooth and large and should provide excellent coverage whatever process you use. With, of course, the exception of the AMD Ryzen Threadripper TR4 socket.

Radiator

As this is a high-profile radiator, it’s clearly a pretty hefty unit. It does, however, still carry a strong aesthetic. Most notably with the color scheme and the light ‘Scythe’ branding to the top of the radiator.

The caps of the 6 head pipes (to each side) with their silver finish also really stand out nicely against the black. You may also, have noted, that the fins to the radiator have a lightly-overlapping pattern.

The below image shows the slight recess to help improve the RAM compatibility, as we noted earlier, however, it seems that this cooler can effectively be installed in almost any direction so you’ll not struggle to get this to fit onto your system.

Fan

The Scythe Fuma 2 has two Kaze Flex fans fitted to get that heat moving. The center ‘sandwich’ fan is a standard 120mm design while the 2nd is a slim-profile.

As you can see, the slim-profile is roughly only around half the width of the main fan which, again, adds to the overall RAM compatibility. If you wish, however, Scythe does provide you with a third set of fan brackets. You know, just in case you ever wanted to fit a third fan to this cooler.

Overall

So, as a whole, the Scythe Fuma 2 looks like an absolute monster of a cooler and not just because it’s big. The good news is, however, that it has clearly been very well designed. A lot of intelligent thought has been put into this model and that is highlighted even further when it comes to the installation.
