A Closer Look

What Fans Are We Testing?

With much gratitude to Scythe, they have provided us with several samples of their fans. While they are all RGB capable, there is a wide variance in the model’s specific details, this includes fan speed and fan type (largely determined by whether they are 4-pin PWM or 3-pin alternatives (such as ULN or FLX).

Please note that all fans are 120mm in design and as such, will provide one of the base common-factors for our testing.

KAZE FLEX 120 – Stock Cooler Fan – PWM – 800RPM

The first fan we will be testing is the Kaze Flex 120 800rpm. This is the ‘stock’ fan that is provided as standard with their excellent Ninja 5 CPU cooler.

For more information on this fan, you can visit the official product page on the link here!

KAZE FLEX 120 – Quiet – ULN – 800RPM

The first fan we will be testing is the Kaze Flex Quiet 800rpm. This is a ‘quiet’ fan designed more for low-noise operation rather than outright performance.

For more information on this fan, you can visit the official product page on the link here!

KAZE FLEX 120 – Regular – FLX – 1200RPM

The next fan we will be testing is the Kaze Flex Regular 1200rpm. This is a relatively standing 3-pin fan designed for uncomplicated usage within a system.

For more information on this fan, you can visit the official product page on the link here!

KAZE FLEX 120 – High Speed – FLX – 1800RPM

The next fan we will be testing is the Kaze Flex High Speed 1800rpm. As the name (and RPM) would suggest, this fan has been designed solely with speed and optimal airflow in mind.

For more information on this fan, you can visit the official product page on the link here!

KAZE FLEX 120 – Quiet – PWM – 800RPM

The first of the PWM fans we will be testing is the Kaze Flex Quiet 800rpm. Similar to the 3-pin version, except this has greater speed control thanks to the 4-pin PWM system.

For more information on this fan, you can visit the official product page on the link here!

KAZE FLEX 120 – Regular – PWM – 1200RPM

The next of the PWM fans we will be testing is the Kaze Flex Regular 1200rpm. Similar to the 3-pin FLX version, except this particular model has greater speed control thanks to the 4-pin PWM system.

For more information on this fan, you can visit the official product page on the link here!

KAZE FLEX 120 – High Speed – PWM – 1800RPM

The last of the PWM fans we will be testing is the Kaze Flex Quiet 1800rpm. This is, again, similar to the 3-pin High Speed model except includes 4-pin PWM fan control.

For more information on this fan, you can visit the official product page on the link here!

Testing!

With our 6 Scythe Kaze Flex fans now detailed, onto the testing! This will not be our first comprehensive test of 120mm fans. As such, we have created a methodology that will make this a ‘fair’ test of comparison.

The details of this methodology will be explained on the next page!
