How Much Does it Cost?

The Seagate Special Edition 2TB Beskar Ingor RGB External Hard Drive is available now from many major retailers. Amusingly, it seems it’s pretty popular though, as both Scan and Amazon have sold out already. However, you know what the modern world is like with stock issues, so keep an eye out, I am certain more will be in stock soon enough. Everything is just one container stuck in Dover away from being in stock these days. You can check Amazon here, and Scan here.

Overview

I really like this drive, the design just really couldn’t be any more relevant and cool at this time. The Mandolorian has turned out to be one of the coolest things Star Wars has ever done. Furthermore, it’s proven to be the only really good bit in the Book of Boba Fett too, but I digress. The Beskar Ingot design translates incredibly well to the external drive, even if the dimensions of the in-show ingots is a little different, the design works great. That being said, I wouldn’t mind getting my hands on the 2.5″ SSD or even the M.2 SSD from Seagate with a similar design. If anything, a Beskar themed PC build would be pretty sweet in general.

The addition of RGB is nice, it defaults to blue at all times unless you use the desktop software to change it. However, I should point out that RGB customisation is limited to desktop computer usage only, you can’t do that if you’re plugging into a PlayStation 5 or something.

It’s certainly not the fastest drive in the Seagate arsenal, but then again, it’s not designed to be. It’s using the slimmer and lighter 2.5″ mechanical HDD technology. That does make it more portable, and it also keeps the cost down too. If you need a drive for moving larger 4K video files back and forth, this is not the right drive for you. If you’re looking to back up photo libraries, mp3 files, and a load of work documents, then it’s perfect for the job. It’ll work on consoles too, but at 2TB it’ll only back up so many modern games, and Seagate makes larger and faster drives better suited to that job.

For some casual and light backups though, it’s perfect for the job. If you don’t want to drop £250 on a high-end internal SSD for your laptop just to store your music and movie library, this is a much more sensible and affordable option. Plus, it looks pretty damn cool too, and likely costs less than a real Beskar ingot anyway!
