Seasonic’s Platinum 660 demonstrates why Seasonic are an industry-leader with power supplies. Throughout our testing we have seen fantastic results across the board: efficiency is excellent and abides to 80 Plus Platinum standards, the noise is very low and the hybrid fan mode works great, voltage regulation is superb across the main rails and easily abides to Seasonic’s 2% claim, ripple suppression was fantastic and puts most other power supplies in this market segment to shame and to top it all off Seasonic offer a 7 year warranty which makes the price point all the more enticing. Sure the Seasonic Platinum 660 is a niche product: most people will not desire more than a good value 80 Plus Bronze power supply made by a reputable manufacturer but if you desire the best of the best and you want a reasonable wattage then this PSU is a great place to look. With 660W on offer, which can even be pushed higher as we saw this unit go to 927W before it shut down, the Seasonic Platinum 660 is easily capable of powering a high end system. Whether that be a workstation, where the extra quality, stability and reliability will be a crucial consideration, or a high-end gaming system where you’ll want clean, stable and quiet power to make sure your expensive components are protected from damage.

There isn’t really much to not like about this power supply. In our testing the only thing I picked up on is the fact the PFC seemed a little low at 20% but this is probably due to the power supply having to “warm up” rather than it having weak performance. Of course the other thing you may not like is the price, but at the end of the day it is clear you get what you pay for with this power supply: it offers the best so you have to pay a premium for that.
