The Seasonic PRIME TX-1600 Noctua Edition is one of the greatest power supplies a consumer can buy right now, but while we’ve already reviewed that incredible special edition, what about its regular version? Well, that would be the Seasonic PRIME TX, a 1600W behemoth of a power supply, but without the Noctua bling on top, it still promises to be one of the best power supplies on the market. Created by the industry leading brand Seasonic, this one comes with the full black, grey and silver aesthetic, and while I’m a big fan of the Noctua browns, it’s not to everyone’s taste, so perhaps this base model is more your speed?
Designed for use in the most power-hungry, flagship gaming and workstation systems, with its incredible 1600W output it can drive multiple graphics cards, multiple processors, and all the overclocking you can conjour without breaking a sweat. This makes it suitable for the most extreme gaming PCs, AI workflows, rendering workstations, and well, just about anything; although total overkill for a 1080p Minecraft gaming PC. With the Seasonic award-winning 80 PLUS Titanium, Cybenetics Lambda A++ certification, fully modular cables, and specifications that can handle virtually anything you can throw at it, you know this is going to be good, but of course, we’ll be putting that to the test anyway.
One very interesting thing about this spec is that while the Noctua edition featured the legendary 120mm Noctua fan, this one features a larger 135mm fan, meaning it can move a lot of air at lower RPM, and honestly, I expected the fans to be the same size between the editions.
