Ninja Theory are pleased to announce that the enhanced edition of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II is going to release on August 12 as a free update for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and Steam. Not just that, but a PlayStation 5 version will also be released on the same day.
Performance Mode
This new update for Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II introduces a highly anticipated Performance Mode, allowing you to experience the game at 60 frames per second (FPS), something that’s currently unavailable on the Xbox Series S. This means significantly smoother gameplay, especially during intense combat sequences and fast-paced moments. Please note that Performance Mode is not available on Xbox Series S.
For PC players, they are taking visual fidelity up a notch with a new “Very High” preset, pushing the already stunning graphics even further, and offering higher frame rates too (if your PC is fast enough). Also, they have been busy optimising the game for handheld play, and with this update, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II will officially be Steam Deck Verified, ensuring a fantastic experience on the go.
The Dark Rot Returns
The dreaded Dark Rot from Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is back! This optional game mode presents an intense new challenge for Senua’s journey to Iceland. Each time you fail, the Dark Rot will spread, and if it reaches Senua’s head, your quest ends and all progress is lost. Are you ready to face this ultimate test?
Enhanced Photo Mode

To help you create even more stunning content, they have significantly enhanced Photo Mode. You’ll find improvements across a wide range of settings, plus an exciting new “Motion” tab for custom cinematic video capture. - If you already own Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, there will be no fee for this update. This includes Game Pass players. Enhanced will replace the standard version of the game, so there will be no additional costs for players picking up the game for the first time, either.

- Yes. Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice (PS5) will be available to purchase for $29.99 on August 12th 2025.
