Sequel to the Classic Beetlejuice Movie Confirmed in Threefold

We all know what happens when you call out Beetlejuice three times, and while the movie isn’t actually here yet, it has just been confirmed by the third person that we would want to star in a sequel to this classic motion picture. Winona Ryder has joined Michael Keaton and Tim Burton in saying that a Beetlejuice sequel is in the works.

This all happened on Monday’s version of Late Night with Seth Meyers where the actress confirmed the follow-up to the classic movie that was shown the first time all the way back in 1988. I feel old now, because I can remember that.

“Um, I think I can confirm it, because Tim Burton did this interview — like, it was very hush hush, top secret … and then he was doing some press for Big Eyes and he did an on-camera interview and he said, ‘Oh yeah we’re doing it and Winona’s going to be in it,’ and I was like [shocked face].”

Micheal Keaton and Tim Burton already confirmed the plans as early as February 2014. Micheal Keaton told MTV that it always was one of the movies he wanted to do and one of the roles he wanted to play again and later in December Tim Burton revealed that a script existed and that he would love to work with the same people again. “I miss that character. There’s something that’s cathartic and amazing about it. I think it’s closer than ever.”

The interview part with Winona Ryder can be watched on Hulu, that is if you are located in the US. I’m sure it’ll find its way to YouTube and other VoD services soon. As for the movie’s release date, my guess would be 2018 to coincide with the 30-year anniversary of the original.
