Everyone loves a freebie. Only the other day I was walking down the street and found a car unlocked. Admittedly the police didn’t see it that way. After being taken to the station a very fetching female police officer, she suggested that I had a body of a person much younger than my age and wanted to know my secret. My lawyer advised me not to answer. Anyway, I digress, everyone loves a freebie. I’m therefore delighted to report that classic FPS, Shadow Warrior, is available for free on GoG.com.
It hasn’t aged well, but then, so few of us do. For the time it was a very decent FPS. It was made by 3D realms and rather ironically the game was kind of swallowed up by their previous years hit Duke Nukem 3D. While Shadow Warrior was also a great fps, it just didn’t compete with the original.
We at eTeknix are always fans of free games, we recently reported how the Arma spin off Argo had recent launched as a free to play with zero microtransactions. I’m pleased to say there is equally no catches with this either. Well, you do have to get a GoG account, but that’s hardly tragic.
Just because we’re really nice here, you can find a link direct to GoG and the game by clicking here. It’s definitely worth a look as, if nothing else, it gives you a window into the humble beginnings of the modern first person shooter.
You might find it a little dated, but it’s good to pay a nostelgic visit to the past every now and then. This game even has a dirty little secret. There is a rather amusing easter egg to unlock where you can be Senpai to some scantily clad maidens. Oh my! What would Jack Thompson say?!
