Sharkoon DarkGlider Gaming Mouse Review

Taking the first look at the DarkGlider, it is a fairly large mouse in comparison to the previous mice we have had in for review. It’s ergonomically shaped for right-handed gamers, with a total of 10 buttons (including the scroll wheel). You may also notice a small LCD display towards the front nearside – we’ll take a close look at this later. The whole mouse, other than the buttons, is coated with a soft touch coating, making it a pleasant feeling in your hand.

The DarkGlider is fairly wide taking into account it’s size and with the additional placement of an LCD screen. There are the usual left and right click, a 3D scrollwheel (left, right, down and scroll), on top of an on the fly DPI and profile changing buttons

The left side of the mouse features small thumb rest and two thumb buttons that by default navigate forwards and back in browsers – like many of the mice with thumb buttons.

The rear of the mouse has the DarkGlider logo that lights up when connected to a PC – you’ll see more of this later. Other than that it is relatively plain.

The right side of the mouse has been untouched except for the name of mouse inscribed in white down the bottom edge. There is a slight little finger rest here in accordance with it’s ergonomic shape.

Due to the large shape and the additional placement of the DPI LCD screen, the mouse has a kind of leaning look to it from the front.

The underside of the mouse has five ceramic feet to aid it in gliding across the desk surface or mouse pad.  In the centre is the Avagro 9500 V2 Pro laser sensor, which provides a huge 6000 DPI – more than enough for most people. Near the rear of the mouse is a small button, which when pushed, releases the catch that holds the weight cartridge in. This was fairly difficult to removed as the catch was fairly stiff. After a lot of effort, we did however manage to removed the cartridge.

The weight cartridge holds up for four weights – which come in two different weights.

The additional feet and the weights are kept in the small metal container that comes with the mouse. There are four 3.1g weights and four 3.7g weights. This allows you to fine tune the overall weight to best suit the user. The black pads are the non-ceramic feet in case you don’t like the feel of the standard ones.

The weights just click in to the cartridge, which just slides back into the mouse.

The LCD display glows a steady red when connect to a PC via it’s braided USB cable. The screen displays the current DPI, which is much more readable – unlike the CM Storm Sentinel range of mice where the screen is located in the middle, which is covered by your palm. Glad to see Sharkoon are on the ball!

The rear DarkGlider logo illuminates red by default, but this is changeable in the software.
