Sharkoon Releases SKILLER SGK55W Keyboard
Sharkoon is back with a fresh addition to their peripheral lineup. The new SKILLER SGK55W is a compact, wireless mechanical keyboard that seems to tick almost every box for modern gamers without breaking the bank.
The SKILLER SGK55W is built around the increasingly popular 75% layout. This format is a bit of a “sweet spot” for many of us, as it keeps the keyboard compact enough to save desk space for those wide mouse flicks while retaining the essential function keys and a dedicated rotary knob for quick volume adjustments.
Sharkoon SKILLER SGK55W
Sharkoon has clearly put some thought into the typing experience here. It features a gasket-mount design, something usually reserved for more expensive custom boards. By using a polycarbonate plate and double-layer foam damping, the keyboard aims to provide a softer, quieter “thud” rather than a harsh, clacky bottom-out.
Built for Durability and Performance
Under the hood, you’ll find Sharkoon’s own pre-lubed linear switches. These are designed to be smooth and consistent right out of the box, making them a solid choice for both rapid-fire gaming and long-form typing. Even better, the PCB is hot-swappable, so if you decide you want to try out some fancy boutique switches later, you can just pop them in without touching a soldering iron.
The keycaps are also a step above what we usually see at this price point. They are double-shot PBT in a Cherry profile, meaning the legends won’t fade away after a few months of heavy use, and the plastic won’t get that greasy, shiny look over time.
Key Features
- 75% Compact Layout: Saves space while keeping the essentials and a rotary volume knob.
- Triple-Layer Damping: Gasket-mount design with silicone and foam for improved acoustics.
- Sharkoon Linear Switches: Pre-lubed for a smooth, resistance-free feel.
- Hot-Swap & VIA Support: Fully customisable hardware and software (VIA compatible).
- Dual-Mode Connectivity: Use it wired or via 2.4 GHz wireless.
- Long Battery Life: Equipped with a 4,000 mAh battery for extended wireless sessions.
- Premium Keycaps: Extra-thick PBT double-shot caps for durability.
The keyboard also features south-facing ARGB lighting. This is a small but important detail for enthusiasts, as south-facing LEDs prevent interference with certain types of custom keycaps and generally offer a more vibrant glow toward the user.
On the software side, the inclusion of VIA compatibility is a massive win. It means you don’t have to install bloated proprietary software to remap your keys; you can do it all through a browser-based interface, which is much cleaner and more efficient.
What We Think
Sharkoon has a reputation for delivering great value, and the SKILLER SGK55W seems to continue that trend. Combining a gasket-mount internal structure, PBT keycaps, and VIA support for under €75 is an impressive feat. It’s a great entry point for someone who wants the “custom keyboard feel” without the custom keyboard price tag.
Where to Buy
The Sharkoon SKILLER SGK55W is available now in black, with a recommended retail price of €74.90. If you’ve got your heart set on a cleaner look, a white version is expected to hit the shelves in April at the same price point.
