How Much Does it Cost?

OK, so when I opened this review, I said this case was £100-110, but it sort of is, and it sort of isn’t. I’ve seen the MSRP listed as 84.90 EUR, TechInn has it listed at £112.11 but on sale for £73.99, Sotel has it for £98.46, and nope, I can’t find stock at a retailer I’ve actually heard of. I hope Sharkoon improves this soon, as it’s really all over the place. However, if it’s still £73.99 at TechInn, that’s a pretty sweet deal.

Overview

Sharkoon has gone all in on this one, and while the price is all over the place, I’m going to assume you’re smart enough to buy it at the cheapest online prices which were just under £75. If that’s what you’re paying, then I really can’t find any major fault with this case, but at its MSRP, it’s pretty overpriced and rival offerings are coming in 40-50 quid cheaper and just as well equipped these days.

There are a few quirks, but nothing that I would call a deal breaker. The ARGB fans have the ARGB pre-wired, but they’ve done a bad job, so disconnecting and rerouting the cables is going to be a good idea. There’s a fan hub for RGB too, which is neat, but not for the fans, and finding six fan headers isn’t possible on some more affordable motherboards, so you may need to splitter cables. I was concerned the Molex headers would lock the fans to max RPM, but no, they sit running at a quieter speed that I could happily live with.

There are some thinner materials here and there, especially the dust filters. At the basics of it, there’s nothing wrong with them, but a little thicker and with stronger magnets would be nice as they can slip about a wee bit. However, it’s got dust and mesh filters throughout, and I can’t complain about that. Oh, and the snap-off covers on the back, really, in this day and age?

Should I Buy One?

Overall, it’s fairly compact, it holds a nice array of SSDs and HDDs, it comes with enough fans that you don’t really have to ever worry about airflow, and you can fit a modestly powerful system in it with no issues. I like that despite having six ARGB fans, the lighting isn’t overkill, and the hex front panel design actually looks pretty cool. For the number of features you get for around £75 (if you shop around), it’s easy to look over the smaller quirks the Hex has to offer.
