Silent Hill 2 Remake Rated for Xbox Series X/S by ESRB
The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has classified Silent Hill 2 Remake for Xbox Series X/S, a version that has not yet been officially announced by either the publisher Konami or the developer Bloober Team. However, earlier in October, a clue suggesting the existence of this version—and another one for Nintendo Switch 2—was found on the website of a studio specializing in horror games.
Release and Exclusive Deal
Konami released Silent Hill 2 Remake on October 8, 2024, for PC and PlayStation 5, as a timed console exclusive for Sony’s platform. According to promotional materials, this exclusivity deal was limited to one year. Therefore, from October 8, 2025, Konami is free to publish the survival horror title on other platforms.
Since its release last year, the remake of the 2001 classic has sold 2.5 million units, according to a promotional video for Silent Hill f, the latest entry in the series. This makes it a commercial success by the franchise’s standards: about a quarter of all 10 million copies sold across the Silent Hill series come from the Bloober Team’s version.
This success explains why Konami has once again trusted The Bloober Team to develop a remake of the first Silent Hill, which does not yet have a release date.
Other Projects: Silent Hill: Townfall Still in Development
The Silent Hill survival horror series had been dormant for years, but three years ago, Konami announced several new projects. Among them is Silent Hill: Townfall, developed by No Code, the creators of Stories Untold and Observation, and published by Annapurna Interactive.
There hasn’t been much news about the game since, but the studio confirmed in July that development is still ongoing. They also revealed that the team has grown and undergone a name change—No Code is now known as Screen Burn.
