Silicon Power is introducing one more compact external SSD option to their product line called the Bolt B10. While the Bolt B80 introduced a few days ago uses a round disc, UFO-like design, the Bolt B10 is more rectangular. It is however, similarly compact, only measuring 80 x 49.5mm and is only 9.4mm thick. Plus at 25 grams, it will not be a burden to carry anywhere.
Aside from the compact size, the Bolt B10 features USB 3.1 Gen.1 transfer rates of up to 400MB/s read and write. Although not as fast as the Bolt B80, it is nonetheless practical and highly compatible with even older systems. This is due to the fact that it uses a Micro-B (B10) to Type-A (PC/NB) connector rather than a Type-C. Only newer systems and phones have a Type-C connector. It is also available in 128GB, 256GB, 512GB capacities.
The Bolt B10 is safe to use from 0℃~ 70℃, and has a storage temperature range of -40℃~ 85℃. Although not a MIL-SPEC enclosure using a mix of plastic and metal, it is nonetheless decently rugged enough for casual use. Silicon Power is also offering each with a free download of the SP Widget software. This application is useful for data backup & restore, AES 256-bit encrytion, and cloud storage.
