For those in the know, SilverStone is widely represented as being one of the best manufacturers of power supplies around. As such, when they release something new to the market, you can always be pretty certain that it’s going to be worth checking out. – With the launch of their new ‘Nightjar NJ700’, however, we certainly have something very curious here indeed.

Why? – Well, because unlike many power supplies that come with a cooling fan, this one has been designed to run passively. In other words, you’ll find no fans here!

In terms of specifications and features, the SilverStone Nightjar NJ700 really seems to hit the ball out of the park with an 80-plus Titanium rated efficiency, fully modular cable design, 100% Japanese capacitors, ripple suppression, and without a fan, you get all of the above with absolutely silent (or at least exceptionally near-silent) operation.

Admittedly, it’s a little difficult to immediately ascertain who, or what, this power supply has been designed for. By and large, I would always view a PSU with a fan (even in hybrid mode) as a more preferable option for the average consumer. However, I daresay that SilverStone knows what they’re doing here and, more so, it’s definitely worth pointing out that it’s unusual to see passive power supplies coming with a wattage output this high!
