SilverStone Redline Series RL05 Mid-Tower Chassis Review

A Closer Look – Interior

There’s a lot of cool stuff going on inside the RL05, with an absolutely massive CPU cooler mounting cut-out behind the motherboard, so that should really help speed up the installation process. There are no HDD bays here either, which means you’ve got a huge amount of space from front to back for any of the largest graphics cards on the market, and likely even a water cooling radiator in the front panel if you needed it.

A shroud over the PSU keeps everything looking neat and tidy, but there are also two 2.5″ drive mounts on the top, allowing you to show off your latest SSDs.

Towards the front, a little ventilation to allow front panel airflow to pass under the shroud and keep any other components nice and cool.

In the front, SilverStone’s own red LED fans, which are of a very good quality and certainly add to the value for money of the RL05.

Above that, you’ll find a single 5.25″ drive bay with tool-free clips, more than enough for an optical drive or fan controller.

All of the expansion slots come fitted with reusable covers, and I’m always happy to see these on a budget model where snap-offs are more common place.

The RL05 uses two 140mm fans on the front, giving it a positive internal air pressure, so by default, you don’t need a rear fan, but it sure doesn’t hurt to have the mount for one.

Around the back, there’s a fairly decent amount of space for cable routing, but you won’t need much anyway, as you have that large PSU shroud to cram any excess cables you have.

On one side, you’ll find two 2.5″ drive mounts with easily removable brackets.

And below that, two more hard drive bays which are tool-free for 3.5″ drives, or you can use the included screws to mount 2.5″ drives.
