SilverStone SST-AR06 Low-profile CPU Cooler Review

A Closer Look

The 92mm PWM fan looks great, it looks clean and doesn’t have any branding on at all. It’s a very simplistic design without any unneeded features. The only downside is that currently the cooler is only available in blue. If you want another colour, unfortunately, you’re out of luck.

With the fan taken off you can see just how thin the heatsink is and you get a good glimpse of its 4 copper heat pipes, designed to take away the heat from the contact plate to the fins of the heatsink. The fins have a nice waved pattern which should help to disperse the heat. You also get a good look at the bracket that holds the fans on which is engraved with the SilverStone logo.

These heat pipes have been seamlessly inlaid into the contact plate, SilverStone are calling this Heat-Pipe direct contact (HDC) technology and ensures that the cooler makes good contact with the CPU.

You can see just how well the heat pipes are inlaid here, they have been perfectly filed down and it really does give the impression of a quality product.

so smooth

Even with the fan attached, the cooler is only 105mm (W) x 92mm (D) x 58mm (H). This means that there shouldn’t be any problem getting this into the smaller range of ITX cases that are on offer. There is no chance of the fan touching any RAM modules with the fan being the exact same size as the heatsink.
