Silverstone SUGO 14 Mini-ITX Cube Case Review

How Much Does it Cost?

The Silverstone SUGO 14 Mini-ITX Cube Case is available now from many major retailers. I’m even happy to say it’s in stock at the time of writing, something I don’t get to say that often these days. It’s priced at around £110-120, which is a lot, but keep in mind the high level of engineering on offer here, it’s a premium quality product and the price reflects that. However, as much as I love the inky black version with the gold trim, I just found out there’s a white version, which I think looks even better!

Overview

Silverstone prides themselves on their engineering and design, and they’re right to do so. It’s the little details on this case, and any Silverstone case, that really make a big difference. Even minor things, such as how well panels fit together. Or that normal human hands can actually remove the thumbscrews, and they don’t fall away from the panel. Plus, all side panels have good quality magnetic dust filters, that are easy to access.

The modular nature lends itself well to an air-cooled system, with the PSU and GPU mostly take their own airflow through their respective side panels. However, there’s room to fit a radiator, or even expand the number of fans within the case too. I’m staggered you can fit a 5.25″ drive bay too, you don’t see them often, but Silverstone has remained a strong supporter of that format.

Moving the PSU to the front is a smart move too, as it means we can have a much large CPU cooler around the motherboard and allows you to use the full length of the case for the GPU. That being said, I still got a good-sized ATX PSU in there, and while it didn’t have modular cables, the cable routing was excellent.

While the case doesn’t have a window to show off your build, it’s still nice to know that the layout is clean and tidy. There were no excessive cable runs or overhangs. That’s handy for maintenance too, as I know I can pop a panel off and quickly clean any hardware, or easily replace a drive or fan should the need arise.

The compact and durable design means this case will happily sit under your desk, or even more so on top of it. Having a choice when it comes to the case orientation means you should be able to place it however you like too, and it’s little details like that that really make a difference to this case.

Overall, it’s clean and stylish on the exterior, and will certainly complement your desktop space well. However, it’s serious business on the interior, offering great flexibility, impressive hardware support, and endless practicality.
