Sim Settlements Mod Adds SimCity-Style Gameplay Within Fallout 4

As anyone who has played Fallout 4 knows, building settlements can be as much fun as going around and shooting people in the Wastelands of Boston. The problem is for as much time as one can spend building a settlement, the stock building mechanics in the game are not exactly the smoothest, flexible or as rewarding as it could be. That is where the mod called Sim Settlements comes in. This mod allows users to build zone objects that tell the settlers what type of buildings to create. This can be done in different areas of the settlement and each of the settler NPCs can be assigned to this task, as if you are playing a Fallout 4 version of The Sims in-game, hence the mod title.  It even includes a progression and rewards system, as well as points out interesting settlers in the area.

On top of that, it also simplifies the building system and allows users to create livable places that are much more nuanced and detailed, with a lot less time and effort compared to the default method. Sim Settlements for example allows for starting the build with a pre-fab foundation so that problem about building on uneven surfaces in Fallout 4 is taken care of immediately. Each NPC settler can have their own home assigned to them as well as a job. There are also options to build industrial buildings where they could work if the default NPC settler jobs are not to the player’s liking. Each building that the settler builds has preset upgrade progressions as well the further along they get.

The NPC AI has also been automated so it is a lot more rewarding and simpler to manage them as they now manage themselves much more efficiently than before instead of just standing around waiting for the player to micro-manage each town. This way, the game feels much more alive and dynamic and each settlement feels like an actual hub. Keeping people happy is also much more rewarding than just killing raiders who attack the settlement and providing robot security guards.

It is one of those mods that definitely need to be experienced rather than just having its description read so download the mod over at Fallout 4 Nexus: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/21872/?
