Skyrim: Special Edition PC and Console Requirements Revealed

Bethesda has revealed the PC requirements and console storage requirements for the forthcoming remaster of its medieval fantasy RPG Skyrim. Five years after its initial release, Skyrim: Special Edition updates the legendary game with remastered art, effects, and lighting, native 4K resolution, and mod support for consoles.

PC System Specs

Minimum

  • Windows 7/8.1/10 (64-bit Version)
  • Intel i5-750/AMD Phenom II X4-945
  • 8GB of RAM
  • 12 GB free HDD space
  • NVIDIA GTX 470 1GB /AMD HD 7870 2GB

Recommended

  • Windows 7/8.1/10 (64-bit Version)
  • Intel i5-2400/AMD FX-8320
  • 8GB of RAM
  • 12 GB free HDD space
  • NVIDIA GTX 780 3GB /AMD R9 290 4GB

Console Storage Needs

PS4

  • 20 GB (North America)
  • 33 GB (Europe)

Xbox One

  • 17 GB (North America)
  • 25 GB (Europe)

According to Bethesda, key features of the Skyrim: Special Edition include:

  • Mod support on consoles
  • Remastered art and effects
  • Volumetric lighting (“God Rays”)
  • Dynamic Depth of Field
  • Screen-space reflections
  • New snow and water shaders

The remastered game will also support native 4K on the PlayStation 4 Pro.

Skyrim: Special Edition is set for release for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on 28th October, and is now available for pre-order, both physically and digitally. Steam users who already own the original Skyrim and its DLC will receive Skyrim: Special Edition for free.
