SMART Unveils the HRS-M1 Ruggedized MLC SSD

SMART High Reliability Solutions is a major provider of high-performance SSDs for aerospace, defence and industrial markets. The company’s latest product dubbed the HRS-M1 has been sampled with key customers and now available in large quantities. The SSD is packed in a durable industrial designed enclosure to protect it from harsh usage scenarios. In particular, the drive is tested per MIL-STD-810 to operate in high shock and vibration applications at temperatures of -40C to +85C. Not only that, the HRS-M1 is also certified for operation in altitudes up to 80,000 ft.
On another note, SMART HRS has incorporated a number of features to improve reliability such as error correction capability. This allows the drive to correct up to 28 bits for every 1024 bytes. The cyclic redundancy check protection guards against data corruption with an uncorrectable bit error rate of 1×10-17. Furthermore, the drive utilises AES 256-bit encryption, self-monitoring analysis and S.M.A.R.T to gauge the drive’s health.

In terms of performance, the SSD manages up to 525MB/s sequential reads and 500MB/s sequential writes while delivering 70K IOPS and 50K IOPS. The multi-cell (MLC) NAND flash and MTBF of 2 million hours demonstrate how long the drives should last. Buyers can select a number of capacities up to 1920GB.
