Sony Factories “Running Flat Out” In Order To Meet PS4 Demand

Sony Europe Boss, Jim Ryan said recently that the Sony factories responsible for manufacturing the PlayStation 4 are “going to be running flat out” in order to meet current consumer demand for their next gen console.

As you know, the PlayStation 4 hasn’t even been released yet, but early reports show that it may be out selling the Xbox One by 1.7:1 and while that may sound like Sony is winning, this console “war” has never been a war for consumers, Sony are selling more because they are manufacuring more. Xbox one has been selling out faster than PlayStation 4 and if Microsoft can meet demand they could pull back some of the lead on pre-orders.

While speaking with EDGE, Ryan continued that “There’s an awful lot of core gamers out there now and we will be selling to them certainly in this part of the world.” Since Sony has already taken over a million pre-orders, they are likely now trying to meet that demand, which will involve some truely gargantuan logistics to manufacture and globally dispatch the hardware on time.

Sony has already notified that any pre-orders made after August 5th may not get a launch day product, but this is only a temporary warning rather than a fact. Should Sony catch up with demand at their factories and they finalise their allocation of hardware, then you can expect more / less people to get the console on day one.

PS4 launches on November 29th for £349.
