Sony May Be Preparing a New Rewards Program for PlayStation Users
Based on some unusual activity spotted on the PlayStation Store, Sony may be preparing a new rewards program for PlayStation users, following the shutdown of PlayStation Stars.
The speculation comes from the appearance of an app called “Wallet Credits” on the PlayStation Store (thanks PlayStation Lifestyle). The app is published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, but no official details have been shared yet. What is known is that the app is listed as “announced”, even though it is not currently available for download.
The fact that Sony is listed as the publisher strongly suggests this is an official application, possibly tied to new features or upcoming initiatives.
Could This Be a New Loyalty Program?
Based on the name, Wallet Credits appears to be related to storing or earning digital credits. However, it is not entirely clear how such an app would be used directly on a console.
One theory is that it could act as a hub for credits that can be spent on the PlayStation Store, earned through some form of loyalty or rewards program that Sony may be planning to launch soon.
After PlayStation Stars was discontinued, there have been no similar reward systems on PS5 or PS4. This makes it reasonable to think that Sony could be working on a new system that lets players earn store credit through different activities.
It could end up being something similar to Microsoft’s Xbox Rewards, which has been available for years. For now, however, this remains speculation until Sony provides official confirmation.
