SoundSwitch Aims To Make Audio Switching Hassle Free

If you find yourself constantly switching between your audio devices, SoundSwitch may be the software you’re looking for, the program aims to make switching devices hassle free and simple.

Normally, to switch devices, it involves using the system tray and choosing your playback device. This isn’t a huge amount of work, but if you find yourself switching multiple times per day, I can imagine it can get a little tedious.

SoundSwitch enables you to swap between devices with the use of a hotkey. After going through a short configuration, all you need to do from that point onwards, is use a hotkey to swap between your devices.

This isn’t just for playback either, it can also swap between recording devices. There is a default hotkey at setup, but this can of course be changed to whatever you want, there’s also a ‘run at startup’ option, giving you the option to only having it running when you need it.

The software is still in beta, and so there will no doubt be updates as it grows and inevitable bugs are discovered. The software has an auto update feature to deal with this, the updates are configured to install automatically, or you can disable this if you would prefer to install them yourself.

SoundSwitch is also open source, and the source code is provided here, along with the download link for the software.

It will be interesting to see if the dev continues this project, if people will jump on board to help, or if it will be left as open source for people to play with if it was ever to be abandoned. Either way it certainly is a handy piece of software.

I’d like to hear from those of you who do swap devices regularly. Will SoundSwitch be helpful? Are you already using it? Will you give it a try?

Let us know in the comments.
