For many years, Sony clearly considered the PC platform either form of competition or simply a format not worth their time bothering with. Quite honestly, those are the only two conclusions you can draw. – Following their tentative steps into the world of PC gaming, however, Sony has, quite frankly, seen nothing less than monumental success!
With the only exception of Days Gone (which still did well, albeit, comparatively far more tepidly), Sony has seen huge financial booms with Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War, and following the latest Steam figures, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered can now seemingly be added to that list!
Following its release, Spider-Man Remastereds quickly garnered a peak player count of 66,436 making it their 2nd most successful launch of all time. What beat it? Well, that was God of War, which, I think it is fair to say, received a lot more marketing and also more general hype from the community.
Based on these figures, however, and the overwhelmingly positive reviews from the Steam community, there is no other way to put it, Spider-Man Remastered is another huge success for Sony on PC!
There have been many rumours since late last year that Sony has finally decided to take the PC platform far more seriously and with them seeing continued triumph after triumph with their ports, this does, once again, feel like just the start of what is likely to become a staple for all future PS5-exclusive titles.
Yes, it took Sony a while. Too long in fact. But all going well, this is just yet another small step in a hugely bright direction for both them and us PC gamers! – Hell, who knows, maybe in 10 years’ time Sony will launch its own operating system to compete with Windows. Now, wouldn’t THAT be interesting!
