Splatoon 3 Could Receive a Native Version for Nintendo Switch 2, According to PEGI
Just a few days after the Pan European Game Information (PEGI) system hinted that Pikmin 3 Deluxe would receive a native version for Nintendo Switch 2, the same organization now points to another major title from the original Switch — Splatoon 3.
PEGI has listed this popular multiplayer action game for Nintendo’s next-generation console. Splatoon 3 was first released in 2022 for the current Switch and has since received several updates and expansions, the most recent arriving in September. This new version could serve as a bridge leading to a possible Splatoon 4 and the already announced spin-off, Splatoon Raiders.
Improved Performance on Switch 2
Players using Splatoon 3 on the upcoming Switch 2 have already noticed performance upgrades through a patch released in June. This update improved visuals and performance, increasing docked mode resolution to 2160p (upscaled from 1440p using DLSS, instead of FSR used on the first Switch). In handheld mode, it runs at 1080p — both modes maintaining a stable 60 frames per second, even during scenes that previously dropped to 30 fps.
The rumored native version for Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to go beyond graphical improvements. It could include deeper technical enhancements and new control options, such as a mouse-style aiming mode using the upgraded Joy-Con 2 controllers.
So far, Nintendo has not made an official announcement about Splatoon 3 on Switch 2, but PEGI’s listing suggests that news could arrive soon — possibly alongside more details about the console itself.
