Spyro 4 Reportedly in Development, According to Former Toys for Bob Developer
According to a recent leak, Spyro 4 is currently in development. The information comes from the LinkedIn profile of a former Toys for Bob developer, who mentioned working on an unannounced Spyro project until March 2024.
Considering the timeline, it cannot be the Reignited Trilogy, which was released in November 2018 for PS4 and Xbox One, and in September 2019 for PC and Nintendo Switch. It seems more likely that this is a brand-new game in the series.
Toys for Bob’s Past Projects
Toys for Bob is one of Activision’s well-known studios, responsible for Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, Spyro Reignited Trilogy, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, and Crash Team Rumble.
The studio also worked as a support team for Call of Duty, contributing to Warzone, Modern Warfare II, and Modern Warfare III.
In March 2024, Toys for Bob became independent again, splitting from Activision and Microsoft. However, according to rumors, the studio may have signed a new deal to develop a game based on an Xbox-owned IP. This could mean that Spyro 4 is indeed the project currently in progress.
Rumors about Spyro 4 first appeared about five years ago, when fans noticed that the official artbook for Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time included new concept art featuring Spyro, the purple dragon.
For now, these are just rumors and speculation, but fans are hopeful that we’ll learn more soon about what Toys for Bob is working on next.
