Star Citizen Doc Reveals Why Squadron 42 Demo Was Pulled from CitCon

Cloud Imperium game are not taking the easy route with their game development, they have a huge pile of cash and a dream and damn are they working hard to put the two into Star Citizen and its first-person single-player campaign, Squadron 42. We had hoped to see Squadron 42 at CitizenCon recently, but it turns out the demonstration was pulled at the last minute.

The documentary video below details how the standards of the demo didn’t meet Roberts expectations, and in all honesty, it’s interesting that they released it at all given that it’s a bit of a harsh look at the team and their process. Yet on the flip side, it’s also honest at what goes into creating something as ambitious as this, and the burnt out and tired faces of the developers pretty say it all.

Hopefully, we won’t have to wait long to see the demo, but it looks like everyone at Cloud Imperium is working harder than they would like to already to make this game a reality. Keep up the great work guys, I’m sure it’ll be worth it in the end. Also, thank you for not releasing a half-arsed or bullshotted demo for the sake of saving face, that means a lot to many gamers.

  1. Completely agree with the sentiment. I’m glad they’re holding off until they’ve got a demo that represents final quality. And yeah, the devs are putting in the hard yards. I appreciate it!
