Star Wars: The Old Republic – Cut Content

In an interview with Videogamer.com, Senior Environment Designer Mike Harnisch says that a large portion of content was cut from the final version of the game, because it would make it too long.

“The challenge was, how do I create this incredible planet that’s not going to feel after the tenth hour that you’re just sick of it? How are we going to delineate space?”

Rest assured however, he informs the community that the cut content won’t affect the story or the gameplay of the game, merely areas that were not needed were removed.

“We would say ‘Well, we want to move this interior here, and we want to do this, and we don’t really need this’. We were so ambitious, I think that we ended up building a lot of things that we didn’t necessarily need.”

Due to the nature of the cuts, its very unlikely that any players will notice areas or parts of the game which have been clearly cut and removed.

“It wasn’t anything that anyone will notice when you play the game, it’s just that from our standpoint everything is our baby.”

Star Wars: The Old Republic is currently in a restricted Beta phase, but the NDA has been removed meaning anyone who plays it is free to post videos or images or story spoilers.  It will be released on the 20th of December 2011
