Stardew Valley Arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 With Free Upgrade
The team at ConcernedApe has announced that Stardew Valley is now available on Nintendo Switch 2, just in time for Christmas. Players who already own the Nintendo Switch 1 version can enjoy a free upgrade to the new edition.
The game can be purchased directly as a Nintendo Switch 2 version from the Nintendo eShop for $14.99, or existing owners can update their previous Switch version to the new one at no additional cost.
What’s New on Nintendo Switch 2
While there are not many major changes, the new console version adds a few interesting new features. Technical upgrades are minimal due to the game’s simple pixel-art style, but the gameplay improvements are noticeable.
The Nintendo Switch 2 version allows players to use a mouse-style control system, making it easier to manage inventory, place furniture, and customize layouts in a more comfortable and intuitive way.
This version also introduces local split-screen co-op for up to four players, allowing friends to play together on the same console. The online multiplayer mode now supports up to eight players in a single game.
In addition, Stardew Valley now supports Game Share mode, meaning up to three additional players can join a game even if they don’t own it — all from a single cartridge.
Meanwhile, the creator of the game has shared some details about the upcoming 1.7 update, which will include new content. He is also continuing work on his next title, Haunted Chocolatier.
