Starfield for Nintendo Switch 2 Reportedly Delayed, Could Be Cancelled
According to a new rumor, Bethesda has been working on a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Starfield, but the project has reportedly been internally delayed and may even be cancelled entirely.
The information comes from Shinobi602 on ResetERA. When asked about the Switch 2 version of Starfield, the insider replied: “That’s been pushed out. And might not even come out at all.”
Technical Issues Behind The Delay
Shinobi602 later clarified that the delay is not related to late Switch 2 development kits or a release strategy tied to the holiday season. Instead, the problem appears to be technical difficulties linked to the porting process itself, issues that may prove very hard to solve.
As always, this information should be treated with caution. Rumors about Starfield coming to additional platforms have been circulating for some time, especially since Microsoft has started pushing a more multiplatform strategy, bringing several Xbox titles to competing consoles.
During yesterday’s Nintendo Direct, for example, Switch 2 versions of Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered were announced, along with the release date for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. These announcements reinforce the idea that Microsoft is open to expanding its major franchises beyond the Xbox ecosystem.
Whether Starfield will ultimately join that list on Nintendo Switch 2 remains unclear. For now, the project appears to be on hold, with cancellation still a real possibility.
