Starfield on PS5 Is Almost Official; Price and Release Date Leaked Early
Rumors about Starfield coming to PS5 have been circulating for months, and now more solid details have appeared. According to Billbil-kun, a well-known insider from Dealabs, Bethesda’s sci-fi game will launch on PS5 on April 7. The game will be available in both digital and physical formats.
The leak also reveals pricing details. The Standard Edition is expected to cost €49.99/£44,99, while the Premium Edition will be priced at €69.99/£59.99. The Premium version will likely include the Shattered Space DLC. Pre-orders are said to open between the evening of March 17 and March 18, which suggests that an official announcement could arrive around the same time.
Release Date and Expansion Plans
These new details match previous rumors claiming that Bethesda is preparing a major update for Starfield, along with a second story expansion. Game director Todd Howard recently confirmed that new content is on the way, although he did not share specific details.
It is possible that Bethesda will reveal the new expansion, a free update, and the PS5 version of the game all at once in mid-March. If that happens, pre-orders could open shortly after, ahead of the April 7 release.
The pricing strategy is also interesting. Microsoft appears ready to follow the same approach used for Avowed, launching the game at a reduced price instead of the full launch price seen during its debut on Xbox Series X/S and PC.
This means PS5 players may be able to buy Starfield at a lower price from day one. It is also possible that prices on other platforms will be permanently reduced at the same time. However, there is still no confirmation about a possible Nintendo Switch 2 version, which now seems to have been canceled.
At this point, only an official statement from Microsoft and Bethesda is needed to make everything final.
