Steam Adds Overlay Performance Metrics with FPS Info for DLSS and FSR Enabled/Disabled

It seems that scaling and frame generation technologies from GPU manufacturers are here to stay. As a result, it has become necessary to adapt to these innovations. Valve has taken the lead by updating the performance overlay in Steam, now including metrics for Frame Generation and DLSS in the information available when monitoring your PC’s stats while gaming.
New Performance Monitor with Detailed FPS Data
The new feature, called Performance Monitor, will soon be available. It provides an overlay in games displaying your PC’s usual performance metrics. This customizable panel can be overlaid whenever you play through Steam, showing detailed information about DLSS and Frame Generation. It will let you see your PC’s actual performance with these technologies enabled, displaying real FPS and FPS with frame generation active.
With this update, Valve wants you to know the real FPS numbers your system can achieve, excluding technologies that often show a higher FPS rate than actually rendered—sometimes even doubling or tripling the rate through generated or upscaled frames. Valve will display separately the real FPS and the total FPS, including these technologies. You’ll also be able to monitor other useful values, such as GPU and CPU usage, temperature, and memory usage.
Currently, this new feature is available in the beta version of the Steam client for games, but it is expected to reach all users soon.
