Steam Deck Faces Global Stock Shortage as Valve Confirms Supply Issues
Valve has officially confirmed that the availability of the Steam Deck OLED is being affected in several regions due to a shortage of key components, including RAM memory and SSD storage.
What started as rumors after units sold out in stores across the United States and Asia has now been confirmed by the company in a note published on its official website. According to Valve, the supply of these components has become very limited, making it impossible to maintain steady production to meet the strong demand for the device.
Valve Confirms Steam Deck Stock Problems
The main reason behind this situation is the boom in artificial intelligence, which is currently affecting the entire technology sector. Large data centers and tech companies are taking up much of the global production of memory chips and NAND storage to power their AI servers, leaving fewer components available for consumer products.
The crisis does not only affect the Steam Deck. Valve has also announced delays for its upcoming hardware releases, including the Steam Machine, the Steam Frame VR headset, and the new Steam Controller. Originally planned for early 2026, these devices now have an uncertain launch window as the company waits for the component shortage to improve.
For users, this means that buying a Steam Deck OLED may require patience in the coming months. Valve has warned that stock will appear and disappear from time to time, so customers will need to stay alert if they want to purchase the console.
In other news, Steam Machine is expected to be around six times more powerful than the Steam Deck.
