According to a leak that accessed data from Steam’s backend, it seems that Valve wants to reward those who buy its VR headset. Apparently, the company will give a free copy of Half-Life: Alyx to Steam Frame owners.
Valve Could Bundle Half-Life: Alyx With Steam Frame for Free
Brad Lynch was the one who discovered this information after finding several references linked to the VR headset. In Steam’s code, he found entries such as “Frame Alyx Promo” and “HLAlyxPromoButtons.” This suggests that Valve is preparing to launch a promotion for its new headset together with the most powerful VR game in its catalog.
It is worth remembering that this would not be a new move from Valve. The company already ran a similar campaign when it launched Valve Index. Although it is currently out of stock, if we visit the Index page, we can see that a copy of Half-Life: Alyx is indeed included for every buyer. Therefore, Valve would be repeating the promotion with its new headset.
As expected, Gabe Newell’s company has not yet announced any kind of promotion. In fact, we still do not know the release date or price of the Steam Frame.
