The Steam Machine has intrigued PC gamers for a little while now; a PC aimed directly at the console market with a huge and cheaper array of games and upgradeability.
Today, Valve announced the launch date for the Steam Machine, Steam Link streaming box, and Steam controller; on November 10; although it’s not clear whether that is a global release or regional. Customers that have pre-ordered will have an exclusive ‘while stocks last’ early shipment due for October 16th.
The Steam Machine will have two main manufacturers, Alienware, and Cyberpower. The Alienware version will range from $450 to $750, starting off with an Intel Core i3 CPU, 4GB RAM and 500GB HDD; moving up to the higher bracket scores an Intel Core i7 CPU, 8GB RAM and 1TB HDD. All of Alienware’s offerings will be equipped with an NVIDIA GTX 860M+ mobile graphics card.
Cyberpower will offer a much more enthusiast friendly version; starting off at $500 for an Intel Core i3 processor and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 desktop graphics card. This is set to be the ‘baseline’ Steam Machine ready for enthusiasts to take home and upgrade themselves.
