Steam Tests a New Feature to Launch Ubisoft Games Without the Ubisoft Connect Client
Steam wants to become a platform where users can play games more easily. It already supports Linux and also has its own operating system, SteamOS.
Now, Steam is adding features that could reduce the need for other game launchers, such as Ubisoft Connect. Steam is testing this with Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, allowing the game to launch without opening the Ubisoft client.
Steam Tests Launching Ubisoft Games Without Ubisoft Connect
This test does not only include being able to run games without having to open Ubisoft Connect, but also adds cross-play and will allow players to keep their saved games, as well as rewards and other services, without the need to have the Ubisoft client. Valve wants to offer a better user experience while also expanding its ecosystem to more users.
For now, only this game is available, while the new Ubisoft Connect Services feature for Steam continues to move forward. If the tests are successful, more games will soon be added that can be played on Steam without the need for the French video game company’s launcher.
For now, there is no more information about this, or when this feature is expected to reach more Ubisoft games.
