Steam’s Revenue Surpasses $16 Billion in 2025, New Estimate Shows
According to an estimate by the analytics company Alinea Analytics, the digital platform Steam would have already generated more than US $16.2 billion in revenue from January through mid-November 2025. This figure includes both paid game sales and free-to-play game earnings.
A Record Year for Steam
If the estimate is correct, 2025 will surpass 2024, which was previously the platform’s record year. Alinea Analytics notes that revenue for all 12 months of 2024 was about 5.7% lower than the current total for 2025. The gap is expected to widen by year’s end, especially with upcoming sale periods and offers.
It’s interesting to observe that Steam’s game-revenue has grown almost uninterrupted over the last decade — highlighting why the PC remains a key global platform in traditional gaming (and beyond). If the analysts’ data are accurate, the only revenue drop occurred in 2022, when the total was about US $12 billion — still a large number.
Alinea Analytics also calculated that the game-publisher Valve Corporation earned over US $4 billion in 2025 from store commissions and its own titles; comparative data for other years were not provided.
In other news, Valve has unveiled an all-new Steam Machine console, which they claim is over six times more powerful than the Steam Deck in graphical performance. The new device is a compact home gaming PC designed for 4K living room gaming and is scheduled for release in early 2026.
