SteelSeries Rival 5 Gaming Mouse Review

SteelSeries is one of the biggest names in the world for high-end gaming hardware. They’ve had a huge number of award-winning products over the ten years I’ve been in this industry, and likely a few more beyond that too. Actually, I’ve given them many awards myself in that time, and for good reason! They’ve been a premium choice for gamers and eSports champions around the world, and hopefully, the new SteelSeries Rival 5 Gaming Mouse can live up to that strong reputation. However, I certainly have a lot of confidence that it can.

SteelSeries Rival 5

While this is far from the most expensive mouse in their range, it’s certainly not short on premium features. It has the latest TrueMove Air optical sensor, which promises both 1-to-1 tracking and tilt tracking. There are 9 fully programmable buttons, including 5 side buttons. It’s not the lightest mouse in their range either, but at 85g it’s just about in the ultra-light category and should be pretty nimble for light and fast gameplay. They’ve also equipped it with their next-gen Golden Micro IP54 Switches, which are good for 80M clicks and mounted with split triggers for improved accuracy and response. If that’s not enough, you also get 10 zones of RGB lighting with PrismSync and their latest Super Mesh cable design.

Features

  • Perfect for all Battle Royale, FPS, MOBA, MMO, and other fast-paced games
  • TrueMove Air precision optical gaming sensor with true 1-to-1 tracking
  • Ergonomic 9-button programmable layout with 5 quick action side buttons
  • 85g competitive lightweight and extra durable
  • Next-gen Golden Micro IP54 Switches
  • Brilliant PrismSync lighting with 10 zones of 16.8 million beautifully crisp colors

What SteelSeries Had to Say

“Dominate in any game you play. The Rival 5 is the most versatile precision gaming mouse. Customize its 9 programmable buttons to fit your gameplay, including our custom quick-action toggle switch that’s built for lightning fast reaction plays.” – SteelSeries

So it's no wonder I write about tech and test the latest hardware while I enjoy my hobbies!
