Stellar Blade Rumored to Be in Development for Nintendo Switch 2, Sequel Set for 2027
Following its PC debut on June 11, Stellar Blade has been a resounding success for its South Korean developers, Shift Up, having already sold over 3 million copies. A sequel is now in development, aiming to address the shortcomings of the original.
Stellar Blade Reportedly Coming to Nintendo Switch 2
South Korean outlet PlayForum reports that the action-packed Stellar Blade is now in development for the Nintendo Switch 2, which launched on June 5. Shift Up has allegedly received development kits for the new console and is working on an optimized version for Nintendo hardware.
The announcement follows the game’s PC release, where it became the most successful single-player title published by PlayStation on Steam, selling over one million units in just three days. The move to Switch 2 is part of a broader strategy by Shift Up to grow its presence beyond the PlayStation ecosystem, after its exclusive launch on PS5 last year.
In addition to this port, Shift Up is actively working on other projects such as the free-to-play Goddess of Victory: Nikke, available on PC and mobile, and the recently announced Project Spirits. Stellar Blade 2 is also in development and is expected to launch in 2027, with the studio’s director, Hyung-tae Kim, promising to improve the narrative structure by avoiding the cinematic cuts that affected the original.
