Supermicro X10SDV-F Xeon D-1540 SoC Motherboard Review

Final Thoughts & Pricing

Pricing

The Supermicro X10SDV-F is widely availably at specialized retailers. At the time of writing, you can find it at NewEgg for $849.99, LambdaTek for £760.46, or find a good deal in on Geizhals starting from €916.17.

Overview

The X10SDV-F is without a doubt an amazing motherboard and Supermicro have really done a great job. It packs an almost insane amount of features and functionality down into a mITX form factor motherboard. Thanks to the use of a Xeon D-1540 SoC there is room for a lot of other things and the fact that you can equip it with up to 128GB DDR4 ECC memory in such a small form factor. You also get six SATA3 ports and an M.2 slot to take care of the storage while two Intel I350-AM2 Ethernet ports take care of the connectivity. Added to that you get onboard headers for USB 2.0, rear USB 3.0 ports, and a IPMI remote management control with a dedicated Realtek powered network interface.

With all that crammed onto a mITX motherboard that also contains a full size x16 PCIe Gen3 slot, Supermicro still found room to add dual power options. You can connect it to a normal ATX 24-pin power source or use the 12V connector instead. This improves the flexibility of the board even more. As always with Supermicro boards, you can control pretty much anything via jumpers and there are headers for pretty much anything you could want.

The performance we saw was just as great as the feature list. While it of course doesn’t perform as well as our last tested board, it’s also a different category due to half the memory and other CPU and we’re keen to receive more boards similar to this for comparison purposes. It still delivered an outstanding performance for a mITX board and offers amazing features and performance from such a small footprint.

Pros:

  • Compact mITX SoC system with powerful CPU
  • 4 DIMMS for up to 128GB ECC Memory
  • Onboard dual Intel i350-AM2 LAN
  • Six SATA3, SuperDOM support, M.2, and PCIe x16 Gen3 slot
  • Dedicated IPMI Remote Management
  • ATX or 12V power options

Cons:

  • Only one PCIe slot

Neutral

  • No rear USB 2.0 and only two USB 3.0

“With an incredible amount of features and a great performance, the Supermicro X10SFV-F might be the perfect mITX board on the market.”
