Syber Intel Extreme Masters Pro GTX 1070 Gaming PC Review

Final Thoughts

Pricing

According to the information I’ve been provided with, the Syber IEM model we tested today will retail for £1499.99 including shipping. To determine a system’s value proposition, we endeavour to compile an identical self-build and compare the price. This allows us to analyse the fee (if any) that a system integrator is choosing to charge customers for its services. Please note all may not include all shipping costs.

As you can see, we’ve come pretty darn close to the full asking price of the Syber IEM, and we expect that with a few bits of shipping snuck in here or there, and the fact we had to pick and equivalent chassis as Syber use their own model for this build, that they’re literally right on the money in terms of hardware costs. Of course, let’s not forget what else that money gets you, 3-Years Labour, 2-Years Parts, 1-Month collect and return. You also get an expert build and fantastic design, a professional overclock on that’s guaranteed to hit that frequency, and that makes it extremely good value for money.

However, don’t forget that free IEM gaming bundle which comes included, which gives you well over £100 worth of gaming content too!

Overview

The Syber IEM  is a great piece of kit, and while it doesn’t come cheap, it stands tall and delivers a quality experience that more than justifies the retail number. In terms of design, the use of their own Syber PC chassis is a great move, and it’s a nice chassis with a few design features that make it look like a MasterCase from Cooler Master, thanks to those lovely LAN friendly carry handles on the top, while the angular body looks like the Raven series from Silverstone; the best of both worlds in my opinion.

The little touches to the aesthetics really nail this build down too, such as the orange braided cables on the interior, as well as the matching internal orange lighting, the front panel Syber lighting, and that funky under-lighting while casts the logo onto the floor in front of the chassis. Overall, this is a system that’s going to get noticed and if you like that sort of thing, you’ll love this build. If you don’t, you could always pick an off-the-shelve chassis when booking your system.

The attention to detail on the build quality is high too, with flawless cable routing and management throughout, giving you a premium looking system you can be proud of.

The hardware isn’t exactly lacking here either, and the i7-7700K overclocked to 5GHz is a raw powerhouse when it comes to crunching numbers, and brings huge benefits to demanding gaming and work scenarios. Paired with the GTX 1070, it’s no slouch when it comes to gaming, giving extreme frame rates at 1080P with ultra settings, frame rates well over 60FPS in 1440P, and can do a very good job of delivering 4K thrills too. No matter how you choose to game, this system isn’t going to leave you feeling disappointed, although those wanting to max their games at 4K may want to upgrade to a GTX 1080 for the sake of future proofing.

The system is a little enthusiastic when it comes to fan profiles, and the H100i V2 tends to rev its fans a lot, but at the cost of giving us low temperatures and flawless performance I can live with that. If you can’t, then simply dial them down to a less aggressive curve, as the out-of-the-box temperatures are hardly going to burn up the system anytime soon.

Storage is a little limited on the boot drive, and it’s just that, a boot drive. By the time we installed GTA V, we were desperate for space, and that’s a big problem. You do have the 1TB drive is you need it though, and MOBA games aren’t as demanding on the storage space either, but we would still suggest you look at picking a larger boot drive when you order to ensure you’re not fighting for space after installing your favourite games.

Syber set out to create a system worthy of the Intel Extreme Masters name with the IEM, and they certainly delivered. The fact that it delivers rock solid performance in all work and gaming tasks, at any resolution, is certainly a welcoming aspect. Then you’ve got that lovely IEM gaming bundle thrown in on top too, giving you even greater value for money.

Pros

  • Powerful CPU with 5Ghz overclock
  • Excellent temperatures despite heavy overclock
  • Good warranty
  • Exceptional cable management
  • Custom chassis design with unique LED lighting
  • Great gaming performance at 1080, 1440, and 4K resolutions
  • Intel Extreme Masters certified
  • Very good value for money
  • IEM gaming bundle included

Cons

  • 128GB SSD is quite limiting for gaming, but you could easily pick a larger drive when ordering the system

Neutral

  • Aggressive CPU fan profile could do with a tweak, nothing major

“If you take your gaming seriously, then you’ll want a system that you can rely on. The Syber IEM delivers rock solid performance no matter what you throw at it. For high-resolution gaming, high frame rates, fast loading times and more, you can’t beat the value for money here. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a well-rounded gaming PC.”
