Synology Announces Eight Pre-Release Applications for Beta Testing

Synology has started a new beta program and this time it isn’t for the DSM operating system itself but rather some of its apps. The new beta program includes eight pre-release beta applications and Synology is inviting beta testers to take part in their latest software development. To show their gratitude for your help, Synology offers Beta Rewards for the most outstanding feedback and suggestions in the form of free Synology products.

“We are thrilled to invite passionate beta testers worldwide to help create an optimized user experience for the Synology community,” said James Chen, CEO of Synology Inc. “Synology is dedicated to delivering the highest quality of service to customers by constantly innovating, adding value, and improving product reliability. Valuable feedback and data collected during this beta program will be used to further improve our software and deliver more reliable and better-performing apps in our next official release.”

There are three new apps, two refined ones, and three with improvements. The new ones are Chat, Calendar, and Office that allow for even better collaboration between coworkers no matter where they are while they keep everything secure with encryption and stored locally on your NAS. The names in themselves give away what they do, so no need to dive further into that.

Cloud Station and Cloud Sync were both refined and offer more intuitive backup and recovery processes through a simplified experience. It’s also faster and reduces management efforts for IT administrators. That’s all a win.

The three improvements are all in the multimedia packages for Photo Station, Audio Station, and Video Station. The Photo Station’s new communication tools help users collect feedback from other people more efficiently, and new album sharing capabilities make it easier to share large volumes of photos. The Audio Station features an enhanced user interface with shortcuts such as pinned albums and automatically generated playlists. DSD playback support also brings better sound quality. The Video Station comes with a new parental and privacy control to keep children or other users from viewing certain content. Personalized playback options allow users to watch videos the way they want, and video pre-processing ensures better viewing quality.
