Synology DSM 5.0 & Power Consumption

As an overall package, the performance and hardware features only make up part of the user experience; in my eyes the user interface is one of the most important parts of the NAS experience for the mainstream user. Compared to all the other systems that are out there on the market, I have no doubts in saying that Synology have hit that proverbial nail on the head, with a solution that is not only intuitive and fluid, but it is simplistic with soft colour tones that psychologically reduce the fear of tweaking that other options sometimes give.

As a general 4-bay system for the SOHO market, the DS415Play is not necessarily the most economic unit to run over the course of a year, but this is a trade-off for the transcoding capabilities and the general performance that is on offer.
