Take-Two CEO Will Not Play GTA 6: ‘I’m Not a Gamer’
Grand Theft Auto VI is one of the most anticipated games in the industry. With the success of GTA 5, which has sold millions of copies worldwide, it’s easy to imagine that countless players are excited for the next chapter in the series. However, there is one person who will not be playing the new game: Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Take-Two.
During an interview with CNBC, Zelnick discussed several topics, including the delay of GTA 6 and Rockstar’s goal of creating the biggest entertainment product in history. Surprisingly, Zelnick clarified that he is not a gamer and that playing games is not part of his role at the company.
The CEO’s Role at Take-Two
Zelnick explained, “I’m not a gamer. I’m not the ‘chief consumer’.” He went on to say that while he can offer opinions on various subjects, his main responsibility as CEO is not to play the games. “My role is to attract, retain, and motivate the best talent in the business,” Zelnick added, “and then I don’t get in their way.”
Recently, there have been rumors about other upcoming Rockstar games, including a native version of Red Dead Redemption 2 for PS5 and Xbox Series as well as a version for the Nintendo Switch 2. Additionally, there are whispers about a potential remaster or remake of Grand Theft Auto IV and even a relaunch of Max Payne 3, with Remedy working on remakes of the first two Max Payne games.
