Final Thoughts

Price

Tech Armor’s current powerbank line-up can be purchased from their official store for the following prices including free shipping:

  • ActivePower 3000mAh External Battery Portable USB Power Bank – $29.99
  • ActivePower 6000mAh External Battery Portable Dual USB Power Bank – $39.99
  • ActivePower 12000mAh External Battery Portable Dual USB Power Bank – $49.99
  • ActivePower 20800mAh External Battery Portable Dual USB Power Bank – $59.99

Unfortunately, these cannot be acquired outside of the US market which limits the user base significantly. Theoretically, you could import any of the powerbanks but this would be risky given the possible chance of customs charges.

Conclusion

Tech Armor powerbanks utilise premium Grade A Korean battery cells which provide excellent charging performance that meet the quoted mAh capacity ratings. To test the units, I decided to charge my Huawei Honor 7 smartphone with an integrated 3100mAh battery and the Linx 810 Windows tablet sporting a 4000mAh battery. The 3000mAh model managed to charge the Honor 7 from 0-96 percent. This is fantastic when you consider the tiny size can easily fit in your pocket. The 6000mAh edition allowed for almost two full charges while using the smartphone and powered the tablet from 0-100 percent on the first charge, then 0-51 percent on the second.

The 12000mAh powerbank fully charged the Honor 7 four times and even exceeded its capacity rating when charging the Linx 810 tablet. Rather impressively, the device managed three charges and then went from another 0-10 percent. Although, this could be a misreading which stems from the tablet’s software. Finally, the 20800mAh model offers astounding battery life and is capable of charging power-hungry devices on numerous occasions. It’s suited towards demanding users who have a large number of devices in their backpack such as high-end smartphones, gaming focused tablets and more. In terms of build quality, the units feel very solid. Unfortunately, I’m not fond of the 20800mAh’s glossy finish and I’m perplexed why they decided to move away from the stunning soft rubber on the 6000mAh and 12000mAh products. Of course, there’s a lot of competition in this market which makes it extraordinarily difficult to stand out. Saying that, Tech Armor’s power bank range is worth considering and one of the best options available right now providing you live in the USA.

Pros

  • Attractive design
  • Competitively priced
  • Excellent range of battery capacities
  • Great build quality
  • Two-year replacement warranty

Cons

  • 20800mAh model’s glossy finish is easily scratched
  • Limited availability outside of the US market

“Tech Armor have compiled a superb range of powerbanks which offer exceptional battery life in a stylish shell. Not only that, they’re backed by an excellent warranty service which evokes a sense of confidence in the product’s reliability.”
